Producing this workshop and performance has been a challenging but ultimately very rewarding learning experience for me. I want to specially thank the three playwrights who had the courage to put themselves and their work out there, and every student on this project who believed in it enough to contribute their time and talent. I would like to acknowledge our Alumni members for making the extra effort to come back to campus and work with us. I am so proud of the mutual support and the growth I have seen from every single person involved. I would also like to thank Richard Pettengill and Bob Knuth for asking me if I would like to produce something this year, and for sticking with the Playwrights Workshop I came up with through to this final performance. Thank you to Chloe Johnston for her mentorship, and to the Garrick Players board members for their advice and practical support. To our families and friends, we couldn’t have done it without you! To our audience, thank you for being here and enjoy the show!

Playwright / Performer
Julia McGrath, (she/her) (Layla) Julia is so excited to have her short play, “Bookish,” staged for the first time. This workshop is her playwriting debut and she couldn’t have done it without this stunning group of people who she’s proud to call her friends. She’d like to thank her mom and her Creative Writing professor, Joshua Corey, who helped her fine-tune this idea in his class last spring.
Julia’s acting credits include: Totally Tolerable (Lake Forest College, Various), All the World’s a Stage (Lake Forest College, Phebe/Ensemble) and The Haunted Tales of Lake Forest (Lake Forest College, Story Eight)
Playwright / Director
Shaina Maitino (she/her) is a sophomore at Lake Forest College. She has been involved in theatre both onstage and behind the scenes since high school. Her previous directing credit was in her high school’s festival of one act plays, where she directed Mothboi by Noah Jennings. This is her first time having a play produced. She would like to thank her elementary school pep reading teacher Mrs. Schmidt, her mom, and Isabeau Pogue for making all this possible.
Playwright / Director / Performer
Ayda Taksir (She/Her) is an alumni of Lake Forest College (‘21) returning to part take in this great show made up of student written work. She previously performed in shows like “Frankenstein” and “All the World’s a Stage” here at the college. She is thrilled to now be directing a show she wrote that highlights a harmful stereotype in media, as well as working with the Lake Forest College Theatre Department again.
Sebastian Meyers
Sebastian Myers (he/him) (Conor/Man) is a Junior here at LFC, double-majoring in Theater and Mathematics. Sebastian has been active in our theater department before even setting foot on campus, having acted in virtual performances from WORTHY to Mercutio while also performing roles on campus from Sir Andrew Aguecheek in All the World's a Stage to having a clown routine in Totally Tolerable. Sebastian has loved working on this show, and hopes you will enjoy the performance even half as much as he has enjoyed helping put it together.

She would like to thank the cast and crew for believing in this project and for working together to make this a supportive, fun environment. She hopes to have the chance to work more with them in the future.
